PhD in Fluid Dynamics

I am a lecturer (assistant professor) at the University of Leicester, studying the stability and transition to turbulence of shear flows. I use theoretical and numerical approaches.
I have a particular interest in flows with strong property variations, e.g. viscosity and density. Supercritical fluids and miscible fluids can exhibit such behaviours. In short, my research aims to to understand the mechanisms leading to turbulence in these flows.
My research has applications in energy and aerospace engineering, where turbulence is desirable to increase heat transfer and mixing, thereby improving efficiency. The use of supercritical fluid technologies is rapidly expanding in these systems: supercritical Brayton and Rankine cycles, supercritical kerosene, etc. Ultimately, my research aims to inform new strategies and design that increase their efficiency.
News - March 2025 I have been awarded an EPSRC Mathematical Sciences small grant on Resolvent Analysis of Strongly Stratified Flows. The project has a total value of £97,000 and will start in the following months. I will soon offer a 6-month Research Associate position; feel free to contact me if interested.
